Hey Blogger! Javascript This!

It's my little way of saying 'stick it'! I'm unable to make the Pick Pockets page tab live.  The tab is updated but you can't see it. Blogger is aware of the javascript error 'void'.  This means you can't see:

You also don't see:

There should be no need to define a regular reader. I've noticed well-timed comments on a couple of posts each time cards are picked. This does not make the picker a regular reader.  Please don't email to ask if I mailed cards to you as disappointment will ensue.

I've sent cards to this person a few times, receiving a thank you only once when I asked him to acknowledge receipt. He found my blog by searching for free baseball cards. Wow. Who knew? Maybe we should all give that a try!

And there's this:

Email your address if we have never traded. No email, no cards. Hmmm. Another reason you did not receive your picks. I enjoy being generous but it's time to say 'no'. Boundaries are healthy - like broccoli.

So thanks to all of  you who do read, comment and trade with me. Pick Pockets are for you. We'll have another edition around Thanksgiving. The Ballot Box contest took up a bit of my time. I've taken a small break this week to do as little as possible in the evenings but will be around soon to visit your blogs.

  1. I'm finding new Blogger glitches in odd little ways. Anyway, there are definitely lurkers around the blogs who jump in for the free cards and then disappear. I noticed them during my Sports Card Tour giveaway, and again earlier this year. It's a shame that they take advantage of generous promotions like Pick Pockets and require you to post a reminder of the very fair boundaries, hopefully this will help weed out some of the riff-raff.

    1. Future riff-raff may find their comments deleted. I want my trade pals to have first dibs on cards. Thems the rules going forward.

  2. Haha, I notice my 'Free card' posts get a ton more views than anything else I post. Not a surprise, but still. And thanks for the Ballot Box contest, it was a fun ride, and a great theme. I'm mulling over a contest myself soon, gotta figure out how to do it. I'm not enjoying sending a lot of mail out, and hate postage rates for anything bigger than a PWE. But I also want more than one 'winner'. So I guess we will see.

    1. I appreciate the positive feedback for Ballot Box. I still have a lump of cards to giveaway soon - one more box to get out of my study!

  3. New Blogger. I'm not liking it, but I'm still blogging away. Hope the Pick Pockets page gets fixed soon.

Thanks, Julie, for everything you do for the bloggers.

  4. I've had issues with the New Blogger but I'm slowly getting used to it. Key word there is *slowly*. Here's hoping the Pick Pockets are up and running again in the near future!

    1. New blogger isn't fooling anyone. None of the changes made were necessary. Someone felt the need to tinker.

  5. Yeah, the new Blogger is definitely a bit wonky but I'm getting used to the quirks (features?). The Ballot Box was a lot of fun to follow along with so thanks for providing moments of levity during what has otherwise been a very bleak election season!

  6. I admit I'm not on as much as I used to be lately, but I do try to be a regular commenter and reader. Dealing with a few health issues right now. I do appreciate the fact you run the pick pockets thing and include me. I try to thank whenever possible. :)

    1. I'm not on Twitter much anymore so our paths don't cross often. Thanks for the vote tampering! Cards are on the way!

  7. The new blogger is like "distance learning"... I'm not the biggest fan of it... but I'm slowly getting used to the new norm.

    1. I was never "old norm" - lol. New norm will not suit me well at all.

  8. I wish they hadn't taken away the poll widget. Thanks for the cards.

  9. Googling "free baseball cards"? What a loser! :)

  10. I'm still finding formatting to be difficult in new Blogger. The rest I've gotten use to.

I'm amazed by the people who can brazenly just ask for free cards. I have guilt trips every single time!

  12. Seems like the new Blogger does not like you to publish images. Lots of different mess-ups with the formatting when I try. Sometimes I just leave a post with wonky spacing. And thanks again for the Ballot Box - so much fun!

    1. Thanks for taking the Ballot Box! Wonky is a way of life for me. I should like the new Blogger.

  13. Boundaries are healthy, well said! You don't owe anybody anything (at least when it comes to Pick Pockets). But you know at least some of us are grateful. For the past two years I've been running a Rose Bowl contest on my blog but that might not happen this year. Instead, I've been running monthly baseball contests on the TCDb forums. I just love running contests and also being a contestant.

    1. Thanks BBC! I do have so many things I could part with but the shipping costs would be overwhelming. That said 2021 could be the year I clean house. I'm not into to football at all or would've joined your contest. If it's fun for you, that's reason enough to continue, perhaps with a twist if there are no bowl games.

  14. Oy. Hopefully Blogger resolves these bugs and glitches soon. Thanks for the update, Julie. I'd say you've earned the small break!

  15. Not on blogger but I feel your pain since Wordpress doing the same thing. I don't understand what the urge is to keep messing with what should be a basic write words and insert picture interface but this is what happens when you've got marketing guys in charge I suspect.

And one of these days I'll find your pickpockets page before it's picked over. Bunch of vultures on here tough (or your stuff is just too awesome). :p

    1. Tinkering annoys me. I think it's partially due to the "new" mentality: constant influx of updates to keep younger people interested and involved. NEW NEW NEW. My thought is that these youngsters are not the ones using blogging apps.
I think my stuff is just too awesome lol but I'm much too humble to say so.

  16. Awesome! I got one hand in your pick pockets the other on my mail.box (inner alanis)

  17. I've dealt with similar issues with a small amount of people that maybe don't quite get what we're trying to do here. It's funny, because when people just seem to want free things for the sake of getting free things, you have to wonder if they actually enjoy any of the things that they have.

  18. Don't know how I missed this post. But I got 'em, so thanks. :)
