Contest-a-pa-looza Begins Now

I've been unpacking the cards over these last two weeks.  Such sweet reunion!  Thousands of cards - all belonging to me and you! Well mostly me.  I had no idea how many there would be to sort among my collections and/or blogging friends. During the few months before my move, I picked up cards in bulky lots and through many ebay wins. In all of the disarray, I've decided to part with a few items.  First up:

2000 Topps Complete Factory Set
This is a sealed factory set by Topps, currently valued around $40 with total value listed at over $200, according to our trusted friends at Bouquet.  They are such a hoot! The set design itself doesn't appeal to me but certainly someone out there likes it. You perhaps?  Topps is a well-known and much loved supplier of sports cards to thousands of collectors just like me and you!  Famous for their creative designs and renowned for customer service.  This set could be yours!

Yes, this is the first give away at Cracked Bat, long overdue.  Everyone loves a contest, right?  If I have any readers left, there might even be some competition.  Rules are simple, as they should be. Comment and tell me what you will do with the set should the Great Randomizer so choose you as recipient.  Will you put it away, sealed?  Sell it?  Gift it?  Break it open and share it among your blogging friends?  No wrong answers.  If you bust it to share, I ask only that you do not send any of these cards to me. I do not want them.   The contest is open to all of Cracked Bat's followers located in the USA, currently numbered at 27.  Kevin if you are interested, you are included.  ;)   I can't ship internationally without having completed trades with you, sorry Finland.  Simply too expensive. We need an end date for this first contest - how about Friday September 4, 8pm EST.  There that should do it.  If I've left out any important contest rules, please let me know.  HA. Wrong-o. I MAKE THE RULES.  I'll randomize names three times and announce a winner.

I love giving stuff away which is why I began trading.  I've been making stacks for a few of you who've patiently waited for a completed trade. My new post office will be thrilled with the business, beginning next week.  There will be more giveaways here, some seemingly small, or odd. But it's free stuff!  For instance, this little bear needed a home. He was the first thing to go:

Happy little bear, free after 20 years in a plastic tub.

Sweet little Bear has a new friend

New friend to Bear doesn't play nice.

I  look forward to posting here and won't use words such as regularly, weekly or often.   I misunderestimated  -such a great word-  my ability to snap back into routine after a big, big move.  Thanks for sticking around and let's start meeting here more often.  We'll have fun, I promise!

  1. If I win this set, well, heck, I probably will just throw it in my cabinet with the rest of my sets!

I know I'm following you, but I'm not even sure if I'm following the blog! Hope you're doing well, Julie!

    1. I'm not interested in the set, but I had to comment on little bear. One of our new cats has taken a liking to a stuffed dog wearing Cubs clothes, which reminds me of your little bear. He drags him upstairs from the man room, wrestles with it, and then falls asleep on top of it. Pretty fun to watch!
Good to see you back and blogging!

    1. indeed it is JJ. I've found a couple of things you might like...or may have. I'm setting these aside for you....magazines/game programs etc. Once I have them gathered, I'll let you know what is there. Hopefully you'll want an item or two. :)

  6. If I were to win the set would eventually find its way into a binder with all my other completed sets. I would also be able to dump off my half-finished 2000 Topps cards which would be awesome.

    1. Ah, dumping Topps cards. Yep, I like that. Thanks Chris!

  7. Good to see you posting again! If I won, honestly I'd probably crack it open and pluck about about 20 cards for my various PCs and whatnot, and then fret over what to do with the remaining hundreds of cards, eventually dumping them in the river or trading a few away.

  8. If I win, I will scoff over how un-Topps-like the design of this set is, yet probably find quite a few cards that I need...because even sets I dislike are bound to have cards I need. Good to see you back on the blogroll, Julie!

    1. I'm all for the scoffing! There may be a sweet photo or two. I just can't look at 2000 Topps anymore. Good luck!

  9. If I won the set I would probably open it up and flip through the cards once so I could choose a few to scan. Then it would go into one of my many piles that need sorting, cataloging, and storing.

    1. I agree this set belongs in a pile somewhere...just not at my place. Thanks for commenting. Good luck!

  10. If I were to win this particular set I would undoubtedly bust it open to acquire the Barry Zito RC contained within along with a few other cards I deem worthy of the collection I will one day pass onto my son. The rest of the cardboard would be earmarked for barter with a guy I know who deals in turn of the Millennium commons.

  11. If I won, I'd feel very, very guilty about shipping charges, and guilt is not what I'm going for in our friendship ! Always a pleasure to read your posts, and it looks like a nice garden you have here

    1. Thanks Kevin. Wow, I was looking forward to the guilt. I'd send it to ya in a heartbeat, if you were to win of course. I hope to share some photos of my new surroundings. You saw a peek into my backyard.

  13. Welcome back! If I won, I would never unseal it. I would use if as it was intended for and that is to take up space in my closet. I would get it out on a monthly basis and ask myself, "why don't you give that thing away in a contest". I would be afraid of the shipping cost and would one day carry it with me to ballpark in hopes of trading it for a Mitch Moreland Bobble Head. :)

    1. Hey there - a most unique idea. The bobble head would certainly cost less to ship. Thanks for joining in, and best of luck to you!

  14. Welcome back! I would keep it sealed up and put it with the rest of my completed sets as my wife gives me a death stare for adding more "clutter."

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, this set definitely falls into the clutter category. It's also a more attractive set left sealed in the box. Good idea and good luck my friend!

  15. That would fill a huge gap for me in my missing sets list. For whatever reason, I didn't get much from that year. Would enjoy talking trade with you as well. I don't believe we've connected with one yet.

    1. Kyle, thanks for commenting. Perhaps we can do a trade later on in the year. I'm coming back to the blog in a sort of trade debt. ;) Some generous folks out there sent cards knowing I couldn't return a package til after I was settled in. Once I have the guilt off my shoulders, I'd love to work out something with you. Thanks for joining and good luck! I'll check out your blog too!
